The Ottoman Army won many victories through the military history, but the Austrian and the Russian armies defeated them, many times. In addition, there appeared revolts, during the sultanate of Selim III.Sultan Selim III was unable to keep his tears against the bad news. One they he prayed as below:

“My God! Before you bring disgrace on me, and before you make me defeated and wretched, before showing such a desolated condition of Ummet-i Muhammed (the community of Mohammed), take my life”.

This prayer of Sultan Selim was replied, as he was martyred before he saw the Ottoman regression.
