When a person becomes
ill in the Palace, immediately the door of the harem was knocked and the Agha (director of
the harem) was informed. With the Agha, the doctor on turn entered into the harem and if
the patient’s condition is serious he or she immediately was sent to a hospital if not
he or she was sent to a privilege’s house in the city. Then needed money and belongings
were sent. The patient stayed in the city until his/her health got better. With this
tradition jaundice or the other contagious illnesses never had spread in the palace. |
