| Inebahti Sea War is the first defeat of the
Ottoman Navy. Consequently, a new navy was organised by the order of Sultan Selim II. Kilic Ali Pasha was commissioned to
construct a navy and he prepared everything before the spring. The Crusade Armada failed
to invade Cyprus in Inebahti. Sokullu Mehmed
Pasha, the responsible of the Inebahti defeat, said that to the Ambassador of
Venice, Barbaro: “We cut your arm by taking Cyprus Kingship. But, with your victory over our navy, you cut our beard. An arm can not be recovered but shaved beard grows thicker. |
