VASVAR TREATY
.
Vasvar treaty was signed just before the Ottoman Empire’s regression period. As, Austria’s pressure increased upon Transilvania; negotiations were begun between the Ottoman government and the Austrian government, but a decisive solution could not have been found for the situation. As a result, the Ottoman Empire marched through the eastern Austria and invaded many castles and towns. At last, Austria requested peace.

As the negotiations finished, a protocol was prepared and on 10th August 1664, both emperors signed the Vasvar Treaty. Some articles are as below;

1) Austria will leave the land that had been occupied in Transilvania.

2) The armies of the both countries will leave Transilvania in the same time.

3) The prince of Transilvania will remain under Ottoman protection and will continue to pay taxes.

4) The Castle of Serinvar and the other purchases will be leave to Austria for restoration.
