It is the first formal Turkish weekly newspaper published in
Istanbul. At first, it was published irregularly. The newspaper was formed 6 sections as;
“Umuru dahiliye” (internal affairs), “Umuru hariciye” (external affairs),
“mevadi askeriye” (military articles), “Funun” (literature), “tevcihati
ilmiye” (technique, science), “trade” and “es’ar” (prices, notes of
commodities). The newspaper was translated into French, Arabic, Greek and Armenian. Its
was mostly a didactic newspaper (1st November 1831– 4th November
1922) It was started to be published in Takvim-i Amire office with the order of Sultan Mahmud II, in 1808. The newspaper was directed by Esad Efendi and many famous writers nearly in every field wrote. According to the 2 paged brochure published in 26th October 1831; it was published to the news source and the messenger to educate people and reveal the acts of the government and provide them to be adjusted. |
